Advocacy

INRBA supports the development and adoption of public policies that encourage broadband deployment. We focus on conducting policy-related support for our members.

LEGISLATIVE

We stay abreast of federal laws and emerging legislation about broadband and its impact (positive or negative) on its members. We encourage non-discriminatory and competitively neutral access to public Right of Way, private easement, including pole attachments and rates. We participate in the design, establishment, and maintenance of legislation with federal and state legislators.

We advocate in the Indiana General Assembly for favorable legislation for its members who are small broadband providers across the state. INRBA advocates for regulation that takes a meaningful account of our members. These goals help achieve rules that are a relative burden of compliance for firms of all sizes.

REGULATORY

Advanced telecommunications services are vital to the economic and social well-being of our rural communities.

INRBA is committed to navigating federal and local regulations that may threaten affordable pricing and how members provide quality service to the community. “We serve as the conduit for information from the Indiana Regulatory Utility Commission and the Federal Communications Commission.

INRBA is the industry liaison for the Indiana Universal Service Fund (IUSF) and organizes and manages the defense of the IUSF at the Triennial Review.  We also file and maintain an Intrastate Access Charge tariff for member concurrence.

We educate elected officials and regulators on the importance of rural Indiana, maintaining robust broadband services that help to contribute to the economic well-being of the communities our members serve.
